Top 5 Solidworks 2019 Tips and Tricks

One of the most popular software for parametric-based 3D modeling in the market is SOLIDWORKS. This CAD software has been adopted by more than 1,50,000 companies worldwide. Apart from dominating the manufacturing sector, it’s also been used in the interior, architectural and medicine industries to name a few.

SOLIDWORKS provides a wide platform for solid modeling, as well as for surface modeling both controlled parametrically.

There are many ways to work on a software but if we find the right tool we can explore the software even better. So here are some interesting handful Solidworks 2019 tips and tricks, Now you can explore now while working on SOLIDWORKS.

  1. USING “S” Key:

By pressing the “S” key from your keyboard while working in SOLIDWORKS; opens up a shortcut bar consisting of various tools. Tools available in the shortcut bar depend on the environment in which you are working wiz. Sketching, Modeling, Assembly as depicted from images below.

  1. Dimensioning Arcs/Circles from Tangent points:

Need to dimension an Arc/Circle from tangents points is just a click away. While linear dimensioning mode active, select the entity from which you need to add dimension and then press-hold “SHIFT” key and click on the circumference of the Arc/Circle; you will get your required dimension. You can also select the Arc/Circle first and then the entity from which you need to add dimension. The key-point in selection is you have to use SHIFT key while clicking on the Arc/Circle for selection.

  1. Knowing your Tool path:

Finding a location of a tool can be sometimes a little bit annoying for a novice, pressing “S” key two times activates the search bar. Simply enter the tool name keywords you are looking for; a list of tools will be displayed with a symbol of goggle on its right. Click on that symbol, SOLIDWORKS will direct you to the tool by following the sequential pattern to invoke a tool.

  1. Show/Hide Body and Parts:

Working with Multi-body part or an assembly and need to temporarily hide a body or a part. Hover the cursor over the part or the body you need to hide temporary and press the “TAB” key, the selected part/body will be hidden. To unhide the body/part, move the cursor to location of the hidden part/body and press and hold the “SHIFT + TAB” key. However sometimes it is difficult to find the location of the body/part.
